Free hot work and welding safety training with a completion certificate.
Last updated: July 2026
Welding, cutting, grinding and other "hot work" start thousands of serious fires and cause avoidable injuries every year, but a clear system of controls makes it safe. This free Hot Work & Welding Safety course covers the fire, fume, radiation and electrical hazards of hot work, the hot-work permit and fire-watch system, welding-fume ventilation, compressed-gas cylinder and oxy-fuel safety, and the correct welding PPE. It is aligned with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart Q (1910.252) and NFPA 51B, the standard for fire prevention during welding, cutting and other hot work. The course is organized into 6 modules and ends with a final exam (pass mark 80%). It is free, awareness-level training designed for welders, supervisors, fire watches and anyone who plans or authorises hot work.
