  • Tell a hazard from a risk and score it on a 5×5 likelihood × severity matrix
  • Apply the hierarchy of controls (elimination first, PPE last) to reduce residual risk
  • Recognize top-management leadership duties (clause 5) and worker consultation & participation (clause 5.4)
  • Run emergency preparedness, incident investigation, corrective action and continual improvement (clauses 8.2, 10.2, 10.3)
