Last updated: June 2026
An independent, free exam-preparation course built around the publicly published FinOps Framework — its principles, personas, phases, domains and capabilities — with visual lessons, original self-check questions and a final exam. It teaches how to bring financial accountability to variable cloud spend so engineering, finance and business teams can make data-driven trade-offs. It is awareness/prep only and is not the official FinOps Foundation course or exam, and carries no affiliation or endorsement. The course is organized into 8 modules, ending with a final exam (pass mark 70%). It is independent, free exam-preparation training — not an official or accredited review course.

Learning objectives
- Understand that this is independent FOCP exam-prep over the public FinOps Framework, not the official FinOps Foundation course or exam
- Define FinOps and explain how the cloud's variable, on-demand, decentralised spend model creates the need for it
- State the six FinOps Principles and apply them to real decisions about cloud spend
- Identify the FinOps personas and the cross-functional team, and describe how engineering, finance, product and leadership collaborate
- Run the iterative Inform, Optimize and Operate phases and place capabilities in the right phase
- Map the four FinOps Domains (Understand Usage & Cost, Quantify Business Value, Optimize Usage & Cost, Manage the FinOps Practice) to their capabilities
- Apply core capabilities: allocation, showback/chargeback, unit economics, anomaly management, forecasting, budgeting, rate optimization (commitments) and workload optimization (rightsizing)
- Distinguish rate reduction from usage reduction and read key cloud cost data (tags, the FOCUS billing schema, amortized vs unblended cost)
- Sit a 10-question exam-style final (80% to pass) built from original questions spanning the whole Framework
