The SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (SHRM BASK) is the official blueprint for both SHRM credentials. It defines three knowledge domains — People, Organization, Workplace — and three behavioral-competency clusters — Leadership, Interpersonal, Business — plus the technical HR Expertise competency broken into functional areas.

The SHRM-SCP is the senior, strategic exam. Compared with the CP, it shifts weight toward strategy and judgment: you are expected to lead the HR function and align it with enterprise goals, not just execute. A large share of items are situational-judgment items (SJIs) — scenario questions asking for the most effective action.

Use the BASK as your map. Every module below traces back to a BASK domain or competency, applied at the level a senior HR leader operates.

Key idea: The SCP rewards judgment and strategy over recall. When two options are both "correct" by the book, pick the one a strategic, ethical HR leader would actually do.
